JetBlue announces its sixth destination in the Dominican Republic

Jul 10, 2012

NEW YORK, NY - JetBlue Airways today is pleased to announce plans to expand its award-winning service to its sixth destination in the Dominican Republic and 73rd BlueCity with the addition of Samana, subject to receipt of government approval. Effective November 14, 2012, the Dominican Republic's largest airline, with more flights in and out of the country, will launch twice weekly flights between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and El Catey International Airport (AZS), on Wednesdays and Saturdays – the only service between the United States and this emerging tourist destination.

"Samana is one of the best kept secrets in the Dominican Republic, and one that offers great potential. With its tropical forest and beach combination, we believe this undiscovered paradise will be a pleasant surprise for many of our customers," said John Checketts, director of network planning for JetBlue. "As the country's largest carrier, we are very pleased with the support we continue to receive from the island's communities and glad to be able to keep adding destinations for visitors and residents of the Dominican Republic alike."

JetBlue's proposed schedule between JFK and AZS:

JFK to AZS:                     Depart – Arrive                  8:25 a.m. – 1:05 p.m.
AZS to JFK:                     Depart – Arrive                  2:00 p.m. – 4:50 p.m.

- Flights operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays effective November 14, 2012 -

In the Dominican Republic, JetBlue also serves La Romana, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santiago and Santo Domingo with service to Boston, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, New York, Orlando and San Juan.

JetBlue's service to Samana will operate with the airline's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring convenient, assigned seating; a first-checked bag free (b); complimentary and unlimited name brand snacks and drinks; comfy leather seats; more legroom than any other carrier in coach (c); and its award-winning customer service.
